Reading for Meaning The Cluster aim to raise standards of Literacy through the development of a coherent approach to improving reading for meaning. Much of the work being undertaken supports a sustainable model based on the shared recognition of the importance of parental engagement in children’s learning in the home as a significant factor in the overall improvement in children’s attainment.

Published Resources:

  • Resources include power point presentations for teachers and teaching assistants on the ‘Reading Behaviours’.


  • Power point presentations for parents/guardians on how to support their child to read. 


  • A number of DVDs with different audiences and purposes


  • Pupil resources have been created in schools for the Foundation phase Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 pupils.
