Reading Behaviours Handbook
Daniel James Cluster of schools in partnership with Swansea Local Authority
The Reading Behaviours Handbook sets out the eight main reading behaviours, the rationale behind them and provides teachers and support staff with activities and materials to introduce this reading strategy in class. The strategy can be used to improve reading standards and literacy across the curriculum. The materials have been produced by teachers in the east of Swansea, teaching in an area of high deprivation and poor reading role models. The strategy has been implemented in primary and secondary school and has proven to have a significant impact on pupils attitudes to reading, the quality and quantity of work produced and the standards achieved at the end of the year.
