Communication enrichment and Philosophy for Children Promoting the emotional literacy of socially deprived pupils across the family of schools through a programme of communication enrichment, and through the development of a methodology based on a child centred philosophy for learning framework.

Schools:

This project is led jointly by Bryngwyn Secondary school and Ysgol Brynteg and involves the Bryngwyn Family of Schools

Project summary:

This project offers two parallel routes for supporting disadvantaged pupils

  1. The emotional wellbeing of children is met through adopting the SEAL across all our primaries and Bryngywn, offering whole school assemblies, classroom lessons and the withdrawal of targeted pupils in nurture groups

  2. An enhanced programme of reading comprehension is offered to targeted pupils that supplements an already successful Catch Up Programme.

Both withdrawal programmes are adapted to the needs of individuals and some pupils are included in both.

Transition activities are also undertaken
