Key Skills Problem Solving Robotics Project
Paul Bulpin – Glyncoed Comprehensive School
Key Stage 2/3 Transition Project for socio-economically disadvantaged pupils. Designed to engage disaffected pupils through Technology and ICT.
Groups of 3 pupils per robot – individual and group work.
The initial series of activities are an introduction to robotics. They introduce pupils to the various sensors that can be used to control the robot. They should be offered support to help them solve each of the problems, but it is better for them to learn from trial and error.
The Problem Solving Task requires pupils to design and build a robot to solve a maze.
How they program the robot is entirely up to them and individual responses are encouraged.
On completing the booklet, pupils can be entered for accreditation at Level 1 for the Problem Solving Key Skill.
